A side effect of said sweepery is recapturing the excitement of when we were 4. The Treats when we were 8. The Tricks when we were 12. The Vandalism when we were 16. The sex when we were 20. (Cough cough... 20, right, gang? ...Looks around nervously). And so on. But Culture is the Meta answer, apply it to all the HolYdays, both Pagan and Federal. May I suggest that, instead of "not getting" it, you adopt a sense of, "This thing that humans do: Not really a fan." Then play a Gwar record (I don't know, I heard they were metal) and continue to rock on.
