Use this as a blog, post whatever you like. Company news, house rules, album reviews, whatever. But ALSO:
1) Send important LotFP posts (and anything that isn't necessarily LotFP-company but also isn't throwaway fun) out in the emails.
2) I don't know if Substack supports this, but consider some sort of "sticky" post that is always at the top as a landing page. This is what LotFP is, this is what this blog is about, HERE IS A LINK TO THE SHOP(s), here's how to sign up for updates. That sort of thing.
Remember that people subscribing to your emails are opting in to it. That isn't the same thing as aggressive marketing towards people who may not be interested. Most people wouldn't be overwhelmed by a few emails a week from someone they are interested in following, and definitely not one every few weeks. Though you may be sensitive to that sort of thing, I wouldn't assume that your customers are.
If you ever decide you want more control of the blog, you can just put the lotfp.com website on an inexpensive host and use WordPress (free with most hosting accounts) to do the blog part. Then you don't have to worry about Substack rules.
As a long-time customer, I have always enjoyed your YouTube videos, particularly the ones where you go into depth on some topic (like your early influences). The thing to keep in mind with YouTube is that you don't need to worry about the algorithm games if you aren't trying to monetize the channel. Just put out what you want to, and what your customers may like. Turn off the comments, and use the browser plugins to control the other things the platform tries to throw at you. Some of the best channels I follow are just people who ignore the algorithm and talk about what interests them. You may not have your videos being recommended to random people as much, but the reality is that people who are interested in LotFP are likely to find it anyway, and you already have a strong and dedicated customer base.
ahhhhh not good, the change has also screwed access to the EU webstore. Working on that presently.
